Production Manager, Hull

Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead workshop operations within a well-established engineering and manufacturing environment. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring production activities run safely, efficiently and in line with project delivery schedules. 

Working closely with senior management and cross-functional teams, you will oversee all aspects of workshop production, driving operational performance, maintaining high quality standards and leading a skilled team of technicians and supervisors.  This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on production professional who enjoys improving processes, motivating teams and delivering complex fabrication projects from planning through to completion.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage production schedules to ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification
  • Allocate labour, equipment and materials effectively across workshop operations
  • Oversee fabrication, machining and assembly activities within the workshop
  • Monitor daily production output and resolve operational bottlenecks
  • Work closely with quality teams to ensure all products meet relevant industry and client standards
  • Ensure strict compliance with health, safety and environmental policies
  • Lead and develop workshop supervisors and skilled trades teams
  • Conduct performance reviews and identify training and development needs
  • Monitor productivity levels, labour utilisation and material usage
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and cost efficiency
  • Liaise with engineering, procurement and project teams to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Provide regular production updates and operational reports to senior management

 

The Candidate

Significant experience within a fabrication or heavy engineering production environment

Previous experience leading workshop teams in a supervisory or management capacity

Strong understanding of fabrication processes, welding methods and engineering drawings

Experience managing production schedules and workshop resources

Knowledge of quality standards and manufacturing compliance procedures

Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills

A proactive and organised approach with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
